Om arrangementet

Students and scholars are often the first to protest when a society moves in the wrong direction. That’s why they often are subject to surveillance, persecution, incarceration or they simply disappear.

Scholars at Risk has documented threats and attacks on students and scholars in 35 countries globally in 2017. The right to seek truth, to openly discuss controversial topics, to voice political implications of research or personal beliefs are under increased threat globally. Being a student or scholar is not a crime. During this breakfast event we will hear personal testimonies of students and scholars who have been attempted silenced by authoritarian rulers faced the consequences of doing their job, and is standing up for what they believe in, and discuss; what implications does this have for Norway and Europe today?

A light breakfast and refreshments will be served from 8.45. Event starts 9.00
