Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Norwegian Design & Exports

The Norwegian economy is 2,4% circular, compared to the worldwide average of 8,6%. 300 billion euros worth of materials are sent to waste each year in the EU. 50% of landfill waste comes from the construction industry. Under 12% of materials produced are recycled back in the EU. How do we increase the usage of circular value chains in product design, manufacturing and architecture? 

Shipping logistics in the EU accounts for 3-4% or approx. 130 million tonnes of EU's total CO2 emissions. How can we reduce our carbon footprint regarding shipping, value chains and logistics? How can Norway increase local production and exports with greener shipping?

Novooi highlights challenges and opportunities within product design and architecture, related to shipping, sustainability, logistics, and export – while also showcasing a selection of talented designers specializing in sustainable Norwegian design. Our goal is to foster a dialogue on how we can collaboratively transform these practices for a more sustainable future.
