- Om arrangementet
Our panel discussion is about the Ukrainian resilience amidst the war. The launch of the new democracy festival - Carpathian Sea Democracy Week in Ukraine. Built on the same values and model as Arendalsuke. Forging Alliances to Consolidate Efforts to Bring Ukraine’s Victory Closer. Local governance, global impact. Join us in exploring how we can transform dialogue into impactful actions and strengthen international solidarity for Ukraine.
From April 22-26, 2024, we successfully hosted the inaugural "Carpathian Sea Democracy Week," with both online and offline participation from esteemed individuals such as the President of the Nordic Council, the President of the Storting, the President of the Baltic Assembly, Head of NATO mission, Embassies of Northern Europe and Baltic countries, as well as members of parliaments from Estonia and Iceland, members of the Oslo City Council, Ukrainian mayors, influential analytical centrs, Oscar and Nobel Peace Prize laureates, as well as representatives from the ICLD, Swedish Institute etc.
The "Carpathian Sea Democracy Week" serves as a unique platform fostering dialogue and cooperation amongst national and local authorities, scientists, activists, and cultural figures, resulting in the initiation of numerous projects and the signing of agreements during the event. We aspire for next year's "Carpathian Sea Democracy Week" to attract even greater high-level participation, including presidents, government officials, parliamentarians, Nobel laureates, political leaders, scholars, distinguished historians, human rights advocates from Ukraine and beyond, and experts across various sectors.
